caaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaas:
what i wouldn’t do for a scene like this with gordon when he became a vampire
so many parallels between dean and gordon it makes me want to throw myself into a volcano
crowleyshouseplant: #i’ve been wanting to write a post about gordon walker #and how he parallels dean #and how dean parallels gordon #how his unnamed sister parallels sam #and how sam parallels her #how winchester and campbell and singer ancestry/family offers dean salvation #and how gordon exists in a void #how even though rufus should be a figure to parallel bobby#that role is denied him #and how rufus and his legacy of family and hunters and misfits#never was given the chance to save gordon walker #in the same way gordon walker was never given the chance of redemption #etc etc etc
“Why I, an Asian Man, Fight Anti-Black Racism” by Scot Nakagawa
I’m often asked why I’ve focused so much more on anti-black racism than on Asians over the years. Some suggest I suffer from internalized racism.
That might well be true, since who doesn’t suffer from internalized racism? I mean, even white people internalize racism. The difference is that white people’s internalized racism is against people of color, and it’s backed up by those who control societal institutions and capital.
But some folk have more on their minds. They say that focusing on black and white reinforces a false racial binary that marginalizes the experiences of non-black people of color. No argument here. But I also think that trying to mix things up by putting non-black people of color in the middle is a problem because there’s no “middle.”
So there’s most of my answer. I’m sure I do suffer from internalized racism, but I don’t think that racism is defined only in terms of black and white. I also don’t think white supremacy is a simple vertical hierarchy with whites on top, black people on the bottom, and the rest of us in the middle.
So why do I expend so much effort on lifting up the oppression of black people? Because anti-black racism is the fulcrum of white supremacy.

Yes, I’m a woman, but none of the things in the original is specific to women. NONE of them.
Except that it’s women who are ‘supposed’ to do these things, right? We’re ‘supposed’ to do silly things, multi-task, and be stoic when it comes to our personal pain/hardship but extra-empathetic when it comes to that of other people (even those people we don’t like!).
And if those describe you, that’s great! But if they don’t, that’s great too! These things do not describe being a woman!
Yes, I’m a woman. I identify as one!
Okay bye.
^Yes. That is all.
Tell me why Ballet Black has a centerpiece for their 2012 season called Storyville, choreographed by a British white man named Christopher Samson who is now head of Scottish Ballet; set in 1920s New Orleans where the innocent aspiring dancer heroine is menaced in her nightmares by her competitors as tormenting voodoo king and queen?
No really, WHY? Especially when the story follows the bullshit innocent girl follows her dreams to seamy side of town and get corrupted by older wiser more experienced? Like really? I am tired of stuff with closer ties to to our West African heritage getting demonized, and I really wish Ballet Black was not perpetuating that White Supremacist tradition. If there is gonna be voodoo in ballet then let it not be portrayed in stereotypical ridiculousness.
WTF.

“This one is very serious, guys:
I came upon these two on the sidewalk. They were having a conversation. “Excuse me,” I said, addressing the girl: “I’m sorry to interrupt, but is there anyway I can take your photo?”
“Why would you want my photo?” she asked.
“Because you look beautiful,” I said. And she did. She was Sudanese. There is a very distinct beauty among people from the Sudan, and she was filled up with it. Suddenly the man cut in:
“I was just telling her she was beautiful,” he said.
Naively, I assumed I had just walked up on one stranger giving a compliment to another. I wanted to capture the moment. “Let me take your photograph together,” I said. The man seemed reluctant, he started smiling nervously and inching away. But the girl called him back.
“Come take a picture with me,” she said. Encouraged by her attention, he returned. She put her arm around him, and I took the photo.
As I examined the photos on my camera, the man started whispering to the girl. She answered him in a loud voice: “I told you! I’m not that kind of girl.” She seemed agitated now. Finally sensing that I had misread the situation, I stepped between them. The man began hurrying down the sidewalk.
When the man left, the girl’s demeanor changed completely. She seemed shaken. Her eyes were tearing up. “He just offered me five hundred dollars to go out with him,” she said. “And then when I said ‘no,’ he offered me one thousand. Why does this always happen to me?”
“It happens a lot?” I asked.
“All the time,” she said. “I’m sorry I’m getting emotional. I just can’t go out of my house without this kind of thing happening. I have a son. I’m a mother. I would never degrade myself like that. I just don’t understand why this keeps happening.”
“Do you mind if I tell this story?” I asked.
“Please,” she said. “Tell it.”
Let’s hope this man, and all men, realize the emotional damage they are inflicting on the women they try to buy. In the meantime, feel free to SHARE.*
Dear Tumblr, fuck you for trying to erase this.
I’m saving this post because as many times as Tumblr tries to erase this woman’s story and act like anything about this was okay, that’s as many times as I’m reposting it. They can either cut me off or stop being assnuggets about this. whichEVER.
